Donating & Volunteering

Tabitha's closet is operated entirely by volunteers and depends solely on donations to maintain a full inventory. Donations of outgrown, gently worn, clean clothes (shoes/boots/jackets) and linens (sheets, towels, blankets, curtains) are always welcome and greatly appreciated. Monetary donations are equally helpful, as they enable the purchase of essential items like new socks, underwear and personal care products: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, tooth paste and brushes. Please call the Church Office at 377-8620 for more information on volunteering.

Who Was Tabitha?

Tabitha is a woman of the Bible who appears briefly in the Book of Acts (Chapter 9, verses 36-43). In the months and years following Jesus' death and Resurrection, his Apostles traveled throughout the lands of the western Mediterranean spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. Tabitha lived in the port city of Joppa, and was a faithful and devout early Christian. Tabitha was well known and loved in Joppa for her countless acts of kindness and generosity. She was a seamstress who sewed garments and gave them to whoever was in need. When Tabitha died, the whole city of Joppa mourned her death. Other Christians in the city sent for Peter, who was preaching in a nearby town. Peter prayed over Tabitha and restored her to life. After that, Peter stayed on in Joppa and converted many to the new faith. We have named our clothing ministry in honor of Tabitha whose life of good deeds and whose miraculous return from death reflect the power and glory of God.
