DIRECTIONS & PARKING Winthrop United Methodist Church is located at 58 Main Street, in Winthrop. The church is conveniently located about 10 miles from Augusta, and about 20 miles from Lewiston/Auburn, in the downtown area of Winthrop. We are across from the Winthrop House of Pizza, and next to the Dead River station. Use the map below to locate us, or contact the Church Office at 207-377-8620 for directions. View Larger Map Parking is available on either side of the church, and in the Winthrop House of Pizza parking lot across the street, as well as on Main Street. Please respect the signs designating customer parking placed by Winthrop House of Pizza and Dead River. COMMUNION Communion is served during the church service on the first Sunday of each month. Early communion is served in the sanctuary from 9:15-9:30 every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday. We use the method of intinction (dipping in a communal cup), and serve bread and grape juice. Gluten-free bread is also available upon request. All are welcome to take part in communion. ACCESSIBILITY Handicapped access is available via an elevator to the sanctuary and Sunday School classrooms on the second floor. The elevator is located on the ground level, through the side door (Wonder Awhile Nursery School entrance), near the handicapped parking. CHILDCARE AND ARK-TIVITIES Nursery care is available during the Sunday worship service at no charge, for children from infant to age 4. The nursery is equipped with fun, age-appropriate toys, and staffed by two caring women, Lena Mason and Beulah Osborne. Ark-Tivities, a time of engaging worship-related crafts and games, is available for children from kindergarten through third grade during the worship service. Children who are going to Ark-tivities stay in the service until after the Children's Message, when Ark-tivities begins. Children of all ages, from babies-in-arms on up, are also welcome to stay with their parents during the service. While we have childcare facilities available if you care to use them, we understand that some parents and children are more comfortable together, and that some parents desire to have their children stay for the service at an earlier age. PRAYER CHAIN Our worship service includes a time to share personal "Joys and Concerns" with the congregation. We recognize that sometimes a person is unable to attend a service, or they wish to have a joy or concern shared only among our "prayor warriors" through our email Prayer Chain. If you would like to request prayers for yourself or loved ones, please contact Bev Dow via email or at 215-6155. Bev is also the person to contact if you would like to be a prayer warrior. As Lay Leader, she manages the Prayer Chain, and is also available for confidential spiritual chats. If you have a spiritual matter you would like to discuss with the pastor, please contact Pastor Sharon Jones via email or the Church Office, at 377-8620. |
