The Reverend Donald E. Hegeman began serving the Winthrop church beginning July 2006. Rev. Hegeman came to Winthrop from Rockville United Methodist Church in Connecticut where he was pastor for the past five years. Rev. Hegeman began his working life as a teaching golf professional in Massachusetts, Florida, Arizona. He felt called into ordained Christian ministry through involvement with his local church and where his pastor in Tucson said, "Go to seminary and see if they can answer all your questions." Of course they couldn’t he quips. "This is a great time to be in Christian ministry," says Hegeman, "with all the interest in spirituality and all the fun discussions that get started by cultural phenomenons like the Da Vinci Code, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Left Behind novels. And what could be better than being excited about our new life in Christ, while living in this beautiful community!"
