The Winthrop United Methodist Church conducts all of its ministries to children in accordance with recommended health, welfare, and safety guidelines. These ministries include Nursery Care, Ark-Tivities, Sunday School, and Youth Group.

Nursery available during Worship Services

Nursery

A nursery with a paid staff is available Sunday mornings for children, from infants through pre-school age, at no charge. The nursery is located on the second floor toward the rear of the facility. Children may be dropped off prior to worship service, and picked up following the service. The nursery is well stocked with toys, teddy bears, and other items to keep children occupied during the service. The paid staff is very dedicated and children are quickly put at ease. Parents feel secure in knowing that their children are in a safe environment, being cared for by paid staff, rather than volunteers.

ARK-TIVITIES

Ark-tivitiesArk-tivities consists of supervised activities for children from kindergarten through third grade. Children attend the regular worship service through a "Time For Children" which is normally held early in the service. Following the "Time For Children", youngsters may go Ark-tivities where they will remain until the conclusion of the regular worship service. Children who go to Ark-tivities may, from time to time, rejoin the congregation in the regular worship service for special events such as baptisms or communion. Ark-tivities is under the supervision of at least one adult assisted by a teen or second adult.

Time For Children

Time For Children

A "Time For Children" is held as part of the Sunday Worship Service. Children are called to the altar where they participate along with the Pastor or another member of the congregation in a story or activity with a lesson that may relate to the sermon, scripture, or other current issue of the day. Following the Time For Children, youngsters may go to Ark-tivities, or rejoin their parents in the congregation.
