Program Teams

The Program Teams manage the many and varied programs at Winthrop United Methodist Church. Teams meet regularly to review programs within their areas of responsibility, to set priorities, to implement programs and associated activities, and to assess their effectiveness. A Program Coordinator, a part-time staff person, coordinates Program Team activities, facilitates both intra- and inter-team communications, and provides other support, as required. Each team has a budget, and reports to the Church Council which establishes overall policy and direction.

OUTREACH TEAM

Mission: To bring the Good News of Christ to others by proclaiming the dignity of the image of God in all human beings through human words and acts. We believe this is accomplished by addressing the concerns, conditions, and needs of people in our community and the world. It is our purpose to promote and serve social and ecological justice and to improve the quality of life for all.

WITNESS TEAM

Mission: To invite and attract people to become a part of the ministry of the church so that they may develop a relationship with God and live as Christian disciples. Witness to the community through advertising, articles and the Web site how God works in the lives of Christians, and invite them to join with us in praise, worship, and Christian education, ensure that they feel welcome, and encourage them through fellowship and education to participate fully in the life of the church so that they may grow in their personal relationship with the Lord and experience the love of God in their lives.

WORSHIP TEAM

Mission: To create and provide individual and communal opportunities to glorify God and ignite the Spirit within us all. Our purpose is to create a worship atmosphere that praises God as a community, that invites encounters with the presence of the Holy Spirit, that encourages and supports Christian growth, and calls worshipers to discipleship.
